Examination Course – C.S.T.D.
(Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing Exams)
The Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) Examinations are offered through the Hong Kong Dance Federation in Hong Kong and the HKEAA is appointed to administer the examinations in Hong Kong.
The CSTD Examinations are held twice a year, viz, in July and December. Details regarding the examination will be announced approximately three months before the scheduled examination date.
Jazz dance consists of a broad range of dance styles. Originated from African tribal dances, Jazz has been modified over time and now mostly used in musical theater and stage shows. Jazz is a fun and energetic dance styles which helps children to develop individual dance styles, strength and groove. The students will be train to professional standard with technical exercises and exciting dance routines.
We offer the CSTD Syllabus training to provide solid foundation of strength and technique through safe and progressive learning. The CSTD is one of the great International Dance Societies proudly serving Dance for over 80 years providing examinations in all major dance disciplines from Tinies to Teacher qualifications throughout Australia & the Asian Pacific region.
The Modern Jazz Syllabus released in 2004 comprises 15 Grades (includes 3 optional preliminary grades) plus a Teachers’ Certificate & Teachers’ Diploma. Fourteen levels are now available. The Modern Jazz Syllabus covers:

At 9Lives Dance Studio, kids can get a taste of various dance styles, including Hip-hop, Jazz or K-pop. 9Lives Kids will be able to develop fine motor skills, musicality and rhythm sense while having fun! Our classes will also give our students an understanding of classroom community, and improve their social skills.
No auditions are necessary for introductory classes.
Jazz (1 hour+) Ages 4 and up
Class consists of three parts:
warm up – which included strength training, flexibility, core placement;
across the floor progressions – where jumps, turns and leaps are executed and perfected;
combinations – this is where students take all they are learning and working on and put it all together for a fun performance style dance.
Black jazz shoes are required.
Hip Hop (1 hour) Ages 8 and up
Fun for both boys and girls, hip hop is an enjoyable and challenging class designed to teach hip dance moves while improving strength and coordination. Hip hop, which is the type of dance most commonly seen in music videos, is very upbeat and provides a great workout.
Sneakers & sweatpants are required.
Did you know singing your favourite song can become so much more fun after some training? Our vocal coach offers 9Lives Kids fun voice training sessions, which walk our students through the basics of singing: pitch, breathing, range discovery, etc.
1.Tuition is due the first week of each month
2.The tuition rates are based on a 4-week month. A $50 late fee will be added to all tuition not paid by the 10th of the second month
3.Nine Lives staffs reserve the right to not allow students to take classes at Nine Lives Dance Company when tuition is past due (not paid in full by the 10th of each month).

2.There are no refunds and no adjustments for missed classes, except for long periods of time with arrangements made in advance.
3.Siblings are granted a 5% discount off of each student’s monthly tuition.
1.Female students will wear jazz pants and 9lives t-shirts. Hair must be in a ponytail or a bun. Male students can wear jazz pants and a white fitted t-shirt.
2.Students are placed at the appropriate levels in each subject based on a combination of age, previous dance training, and their demonstrated skill. Changes may be suggested after classes begin to assure that each student receives the best possible learning experience.
3.For your convenience there is a waiting area. If you do wait please understand that your children are in a class and should not be distracted by noises and loud talking.
4.No Jewelry, no chewing gum and water only.
